Transport Minister orders NMIA meeting to probe Palisadoes pile-up

January 03, 2018

Transport Minister, Lester Mike Henry, has ordered a high level Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) Board Meeting and an urgent written report, following the traffic deadlock that occurred on Monday night into Tuesday morning caused by unruly patrons attending the Sandz New Year’s Day party.

The deadlock impeded the free flow of traffic to and from the NMIA.

In a release, Henry said he wanted to determine who at the NMIA discussed parking arrangements with the organisers of the event, knowing fully the impact it could have on the free flow of traffic along the corridor during the airport’s busiest period of the new year.

Henry said it is regrettable that so many travellers were inconvenienced and much negative international spotlight shone on Jamaica so early in the new year.
