Ganja seized in St Mary

Detectives assigned to the St Mary Police Division seized a quantity of ganja on Paggee Beach in the vicinity of Quebec River in Port Maria, in the parish on Saturday.

Reports are that about 2:45 p.m., lawmen went on an operation in the area when men who aroused their suspicions were seen putting knitted bags on a boat.

On the approach of the lawmen, the men set the boat to sail. The area they left from was searched and 14 knitted bags containing ganja were found.

The ganja weighs approximately 579 pounds and has an estimated street value of J$2.3 million.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
