Boom Sound Clash returns March 1

February 16, 2018
The frontman for Japanese sound Yard Beat Sound stirs up the crowd at the Reggae Sumfest Sound Clash last year.

On March 1, the war trumpets will be heralded as eight sound systems begin the battle for the title of Boom Allstar Sound Clash Champion and J$1 million in prize money.

Held at the Boom Allstar headquarters on Olympic Way, the sound clash is now at its fifth staging, and the organisers are excited about what is to come.

Kimberly Lawson, marketing manager for Boom Energy Drink, believes that the clash series will deliver the excitement that patrons have been yearning for.

""The musical battle between these sounds is so passionate and so entertaining for the audience. Having done this event for the last four years, we understand how important this is for the Jamaican and dancehall cultures. Boom Energy Drink is very proud to have brought this product to the Jamaican people," said Lawson.

This year's clash will see sound systems like King Addies and Silver Hawk from the US; Canadian sound system Royalty Sound; Entourage Sound from St Martin; Hemp Zion from Japan; as well as Jamaican sound systems Sound Trooper, No Limit International, and Black Blunt.

The 11-week series will culminate on May 10.
