On Saturday, March 16, some of Jamaica's top gospel legends will receive the recognition they deserve at the third staging of The Sterling Gospel Music Awards.

The event, which takes place at The Knutsford Court Hotel under the theme 'Royally Saluting Our Legends', will be a show with a difference, as the 'stalwarts in gospel' will see younger gospel musicians paying tribute to them in song.

"It will be 'the' Sterling experience," said founder and director Basillia Barnaby-Cuff. "The artistes we have chosen to honour this year have more than paid their dues to the industry and have paved the way for others to follow. They have also set the foundation for the gospel music industry in Jamaica to thrive and to achieve what it has, even today."

In addition to the legends being honoured at the show, the programme will also feature live performances from one of the honourees, Lieutenant Stitchie; 2016 Sterling Award Breakout Artiste of the Year, the evangelical Kevin Heath; Ryan Mark, Rhoda Isabella and fresh acts Oshane Mais from Jamaica; and Kadidia, an up-and-coming artiste from New York.

Expectations are high to see the artistes who will walk away with the top spots for the night, which include Album of the Year, Male Artiste of the Year, Female Artiste of the Year, Group of the Year, Breakout Sensation of the Year and Video of the Year, which are among 18 categories being recognised for 2019.

Fans will also get the chance to show their love and have a say in the outcome of the People's Choice Categories when they log on to www.sterlinggospelawards.com to cast their votes. Over the past two years, The Sterling Gospel Music Awards has been highlighting, recognising and celebrating the work put in by gospel musicians in the previous musical year.
