How to cook a perfect ham

Christmas is definitely in the air, and for the meat lovers around, ham must be on the menu.

But you don't have to send your ham to mom to prepare, do it yourself. And it's easy.

If you're starting with a fully cooked ham, bake it in a 350 °F oven for about 10 minutes per pound.

If your ham is only partially cooked, bake it for 20 minutes per pound.

To help keep your ham moist and juicy, place the ham cut-side down in a baking pan and tent it with foil.

Every 20 minutes or so, brush the ham with glaze and baste it with the pan juices.

To finish, remove the foil tent, brush the ham with glaze and pan juices one more time, and turn the oven to broil. Broil for about three to five minutes until the outside glaze is deliciously caramelised, but watch it closely so that it doesn't get too dark.

Before carving your baked ham, let it rest for 15 minutes to redistribute juices and firm up the meat.

Honeyed Ham Glaze



1 cup honey

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup yellow mustard

1tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1tbsp dried minced onion

1/4tsp ground cloves

1/8tsp ground ginger


Mix ingredients together in a bowl. Pour over ham slices as a glaze.

And that's it. Now dig in.
