Mason had last dance at 'I Love Soca'
"Mi still a feel mi face and mi heart as mi still can't believe him dead."
These were the words of Tamara Buckley as she reflected on the last moments she laid eyes on former athlete Germaine Mason.
Mason, an Olympic silver medallist, died in a motorcycle crash on Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard in Kingston yesterday.
Reports from the Harbour View Police are that about 4:20 a.m., Mason was driving a CBR motorcycle when he allegedly lost control and fell from the motorcycle.
The police were summoned and Mason was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"He was at 'I Love Soca' on the Waterfront along with a number of other athletes and entertainers. It was about after 2 o'clock that the session ended," Buckley said.
Buckley said she has known Mason for some time as his house was located near hers in Harbour View, St Andrew.
Buckley, who works at a bar along Molynes Road, St Andrew, said that although she was closer to the former athlete's brother, she was always drawn to him due to his personality.
According to her, Mason was constantly on his cellular phone before he left the party.
