Man puts dog on head to escape rising water
An elderly resident this morning placed his dog on his head as he left his flooded home on Old Road, Thompson Pen, St Catherine.
The man was among several persons who were forced to leave the community after the nearby Rio Cobre overflowed its banks. Other persons were seen leaving the community with beds, pots and pans.
"I have been living here for years and it is the first the river ever treat me so badly. I have to run out of di house and leave everything. But guess what, mi life save," Marlene Tulloch, a resident, said.
Tulloch was among several residents who said that the river has returned to a path it once occupied.
"Even though we know dat it is dangerous to build on the banks, we don't have anywhere else to go, This is very wicked and it will be very hard to get out of dis, as everything gone," Dave Brown said.
