Man injured in police shooting

One man was shot and injured during a confrontation with the police and two firearms one Glock pistol with four .45 cartridges and a Taurus pistol with twelve 9 mm cartridges - seized in Glendevon, Montego Bay, St James, yesterday.

Reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 12:15 a.m., lawmen on patrol came upon a gathering.

On their approach, two of the men ran and shot at them; the gunfire was returned. When the shooting subsided, a man was seen with gunshot wounds and clutching a firearm, which was taken from him. The other man was held and a firearm also retrieved from him.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he was admitted under police guard and the other man arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
