MoBay photographer wants help to buy new cameras
Popular Montego Bay photographer Allan Lewin is depending on the goodwill of the public to assist him in buying new equipment Lewin has set about raising US$3,000 (approximately J$380,000) through the popular funding website, GoFundMe. The account has existed for nearly one month, but only US$70 (J$8,800) has been raised from two donors.
"It's my livelihood and I need the help, so I have asked my supporters for help all those, whether home or abroad, who know of my work over the years and [have seen] what I do," Lewin, the recipient of the Press Association of Jamaica 2008 Errol Harvey Award for Human Interest Photography told WESTERN STAR.
In the GoFundMe post, Lewin said that his equipment has got old and is "preventing me [him] from doing my [his] job efficiently."
He also said that "My [his] laptops have crashed and my [his] cameras are old."
"I need your help to continue doing what I've been doing for you for the last 27 years," he said.
