Man charged with Kingston 13 murder

A St Catherine man has been charged with murder following a shooting incident along Gallow Way, Kingston 13, on May 19.

Demari Henry, 33, otherwise called 'Pound', of Ivy Crescent, Central Village has been charged in relation to the murder of 23-year-old Ajainai Banfield, otherwise called 'Ajie'. Henry is also charged with robbery with aggravation. Reports from the Hunts Bay Criminal Investigations Branch are that about 2:40 a.m., Banfield was at home with a woman, when men kicked opened the door to the house and opened gunfire, hitting Banfield to the upper body. They then proceeded to rob the woman of her cellular phone. The gunmen escaped on foot in the area. The police were summoned and Banfield was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation was launched and Henry was apprehended and taken into custody on May 19. He was subsequently charged on May 30, following an identification parade.

His court date is being finalised.
