Pound Sterling! ... Jamaican born Manchester City star set for big deal
English Premier League leaders Manchester City are set to begin talks with their Jamaican-bron star Raheem Sterling regarding a new contract, with the winger set to rake in over £250,000 ($42 million) a week from the new deal.
This would make Sterling one of the club's highest paid players and one of the best paid players in the world.
Sterling's current deal - which is reportedly valued at £170,000 ($29 million) a week basic - expires in 2020, and City are looking to tie down the England international after his impressive start to the season.
He is expected to receive at least an additional £50,000 (8.4 million) a week, along with several incentives.
Sterling has so far scored 18 goals for City making him the second-highest scorer behind Argentinian Sergio Aguero. Only Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to sign a contract renewal that will put him above Sterling and Alexis Sanchez, who is reportedly close to joining from Arsenal, would make more than Sterling.
