The Neville 'Bertis' Bell-coached St George's College this season appear to have their best chance at a Corporate Area schoolboy Manning Cup football title run in some time, with forwards captain Adrian Reid Jr and Brian Burkett leading their attack.

St George's last won the Manning Cup title in 2012 when they boosted stars Cardel Benbow, Andre Lewis, Kendon Anderson and Zhelano Barnes but, in recent years, have not mounted a serious challenge for the coveted trophy.

Reid aims to return the Manning Cup to the other side of North Street and believes they have the team to do it.

"We definitely have the unit, trying to return to those (glory) days and want to get the trophy under our belt and are looking forward to that very much this season," he told STAR Sports.

St George's destroyed Pembroke Hall 16-0 in their opening Group F game before turning back a stubborn Campion College 2-1.

Reid believes the results are a sign of their intentions this season.

"This just means that we mean business and are going for everything," he said.

Reid and Burkett netted first-half hat-tricks in the game against Pembroke Hall, and the Cavalier captain acknowledges that most of the responsibilities will fall on his and Burkett's shoulders. Burkett represents Dunbeholden, with both playing in the island's top-flight Jamaica Premier League.

"It feels good that I got my first goal and to lead such a good unit. We came together as one. We got the objectives and went out and got the job done.

"We (himself and Burkett) have four years together, so we have built a chemistry. We are used to playing with each other. We know our strengths and weaknesses and try to play to our strengths. So with the quality between me and him, combined with the rest of the team, we can definitely do great things," he stated.
