The Ministry of Health and Wellness is assessing the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions on the public.

Portfolio Minister, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, made the disclosure during a virtual press briefing held on February 22.

He said while the Government is grateful for the public’s support of the containment measures, the Administration also recognises that two years is a long time to be restricted from normal daily routines.

“We are assessing some of the side effects of the restrictions – mental health side effects on our children. We have tried to provide the necessary guidance, offering clinical advice to support the measures that the Prime Minister has announced,” Dr. Tufton said.

During the press conference, Prime Minister, the Most. Hon. Andrew Holness, indicated that the measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act will likely be lifted when the current provisions end in another three weeks.
