Jamaican sprint icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is hoping to close out her World Championships career with glory as she is eyeing a medal in the women's 100m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships.

"My ultimate goal is to stand on the podium, of course," Fraser-Pryce said on the eve of the championships.

The veteran sprinter is no stranger to glory as she stands as the third-most decorated athlete in World Championships history with 16 medals - 10 gold, five silver and one bronze.

Having first competed in Japan at the 2007 World Championships, she believes it will be full circle to have her final hurrah in Japan.

"2007 when I started my career, it was actually in Japan and I think at that time I was 19, unsure of who I was, what I was doing or the direction I was going in," she said.

"Fast forward to being here in this moment, I know who I am, a very very capable individual and trusting that God has more for me."

Fraser-Pryce will be in action on day one of the championships, running in heat seven of the women's 100m heats.

The event is set to begin on Saturday at 4:55 a.m. Jamaica time.
